Learning More About Infrared Cmount Cameras
Infrared c-mount cameras are very rare cameras in the CCTV industry. You do not see much of any stores really selling them. The infrared bulbs and technique used to make
them are very different from bullet or even dome infrared cameras. With a c-mount camera you have the infrared LED lights embedded into the shell or box it's self. There
is no way to mount the LED lights around the lens. So the only way Chinese engineers could make infrared work for c-mount cameras in by using the camera's shell instead.
Infrared c-mount cameras work the same way as bullet cameras, dome cameras, and ptz cameras. They have built in sensors what turn on the infrared bulbs, when light levels
drop to a low level or in the event that total darkness occurs. The video is a high resolution black and white video, usually of 500TV lines.
Cannot Use Infrared C-mount Cameras In An Outdoor Housing
The only main draw back to infrared c-mount cameras is that you cannot set this type of cameras in a very enclosed environment with a glass window. This will cause a
washout. Some installers in the field have had success with infrared c-mount cameras inside a housing, but we just cannot statistically report consistency using these
infrared cameras inside an outdoor housing. You can look at another way to provide infrared lighting through the use of a infrared LED lamp. By putting this device in the
area where you need to survey, you can provide good infrared light, that will the camera see in the dark. When integrating the infrared LED lamp, make sure you don't put
it too close to the c-mount camera, you don't want to have a washout. The important thing to remember is that the infrared LED lights are very powerful and will bounce
off objects. To solve this problem, just make sure you mount the lamp correctly and in an open area.
